Correction!

Okay, so we have a little more time. The gentleman who was supposed to come pick up is unable to do it now, but will probably be back sometime next month. False alarm! I know I'm relieved - I'm so not ready! :) Continue about your Christmas hustle and bustle and I'll come to collect next month.

Again, if any of you need anything, let me know! I still have a nice stash of yarn left over if you need some. Thanks gals!

Important Info!

Sorry if it's seemed like Yarnies has kind of gone by the wayside. I promise it hasn't...really. I know this is kind of last minute, but I *just* found out myself. A friend of my step-mom's will be in Twin this Sunday to pick up any finished items to take back up north with him. Very nice of this gentleman to be willing to do so! If any of you have finished goods, please hand them off to me before the weekend. I'll more than likely see the majority of you at Christmas Eve Service, so you can hand them off to me then. If you're still working on stuff or have had to put it off (myself included), don't fret. I'm going to be shipping Kathy another box before she leaves for Africa on February 3rd. Let me know who of you has items ready for me and who needs to ship them with me. Thank you, gals!

It's Quiet...

...so I can only assume that you're all hard at work. :)

Sorry for not updating lately. Life goes a million miles an hour and all we can do is hold on for the ride, it seems. Does anyone need anything? More yarn? Let me know and I will get you whatever you need, within reason.

I'd love to hear some updates from you gals. Drop me an email or comment and let me know you're still alive out there!

Your Current Project

By this time, I'm sure you're all hard at work with your projects. Well, I want to see 'em! Snap a photo of your current project (or better yet, have a friend take a picture of you working on your current project) and email it to me at shutterbugette@hotmail.com! All the photos will be added to our blog and Facebook page to show everyone what we're all about. To start, here's my ripple afghan I'm currently working on. Now it's your turn! Happy yarning!

Easy Ripple Afghan

I'm currently working on one of these myself, only in Red Heart's soft navy, country blue, and aran fleck. I'll post pictures of my progress later, but this is my first ripple afghan and I'm really enjoying it. I want to make more after I'm done with this one!

Anyways, I thought I'd share the pattern, since it's a quick, easy blanket to make for Yarnies. Enjoy!

    Weekly Ads - 8/29 - 9/11

I thought I'd start adding these on a weekly basis (in theory) to help when purchasing yarn. I'll post ads for stores that have yarn on sale during the current week. This will be based off of Twin Falls, ID stores, so those of you who don't live in the area need to put in your zip code and see if yarn is on sale in your local stores. Click the store's name to visit their weekly flyer. I know it's late in the week, but I just thought of it, so...sorry. I'll do better next week. :) Please contact me if I miss one.

A Note from The Luke Commission

Was thrilled to see this in my inbox this morning! It's a conversation between my step-mom and someone from The Luke Commission.

Also wanted to let you know my daughter Jenny was looking for a ministry for her crocheting and I told her that I could take stuff with me to Swaziland in February when I go and she started this, yarniesforthegospel.blogspot.com. check it out. I can't wait. Let me know what you think.

    God Bless
    Kathy

This is a great blog. Please tell Jenn that what you cannot carry over in February we will put on the container that will leave Idaho probably next spring. We can store anything she would like in TLC shop. I did not see your daughter’s e-mail address on the blog page, so please communicate my excitement for her idea and endeavor.
    To God be the glory!
    Jan Tuinstr

I decided to email Jan for myself.

    Hello Jan,
My name is Jenn and I'm Kathy Campbell's step-daughter. She forwarded your conversation with her this morning and I personally wanted to thank you for your willingness in accepting my ministry. I apologize for not coming to someone deeper within The Luke Commission, but I assumed Kathy would tell the proper people, as I see she did.
My ministry has grown to a decent amount of ladies, eager to use their talents and time to provide quality yarn goods to the people of Africa. I didn't plan for it to be this large, but I'm very pleased to know that nothing will go to waste and you're willing to store any extra - which I'm strongly thinking there will be! :)
I'm excited for this opportunity to serve the Lord and to help a wonderful, God-glorifying organization.
    In His Service,
    Jenn Marshall

This is very encouraging! God is good! If you're on Facebook, make sure to check out The Luke Commission's page.

    Two Infant Hat Patterns

Here's a couple of simple infant hat patterns. I know it's tempting to make nothing BUT baby hats, but remember - older children, teens, and adults get cold, too! :)

I also want to note that these are for under-birth-weight babies, so they will be small. If you wish to make them to fit an older, bigger baby, I'm sure you could add extra rows to make them larger.

Welcome to Yarnies for the Gospel!

    Hello there and welcome!

First off, let me introduce myself and tell you about how I inadvertently started a ministry. My name is Jenn and I'm the founder of Yarnies for the Gospel. It was founded...on Friday, actually, when I was in search of an organization I could donate my crocheted goods to. Not being able to find a Christ-centered one, God provided an opportunity via my step-mom, who volunteers with The Luke Commission. She told me that she was headed back with Swaziland in February and would be willing to take with her whatever I made. I then decided to recruit some yarnie buddies, but what started out with a few blossomed into many talented ladies who were very interested in my ministry. Thus, Yarnies for the Gospel was born!

You can find more information about us in the FAQ's below. If you have any questions or are interested in donating goods or materials, please leave your email or phone number in a comment to this blog post. I promise it will not be posted for the blogosphere to see. I will update as often as I can - I am a mom to two young boys, so my free time is few and far between. :)

To get you started, I have included links to some free patterns. The list of current donations needed are in the sidebar to the right and we'll be needing infant to adult size. The more variety we can offer, the more people can be helped.

    Thank you and God bless!

In His Service & For His Glory,
    -Jenn
